Women's Football in Argentina: good performance and good reputation
Women's Football Team of the Central University Welfare positively evaluated their participation in the National Tournament which was played University in the city Santa Fe from 14 to 16 October. Was achieved 5 th place finish and 1 Round Stimulus; they won four games and lost two. "But these numbers are not important," said the head of the area of \u200b\u200bSports, Prof. Marcelo Palumbo.
"The behavior of the group was excellent at all times, respecting the established schedules and behaving like a professional football squad," said Palumbo. "At all times they were friendly and polite, but never losing the joy and 'cool' that spread to the other girls from other universities."
While these Argentine university tournaments are held for decades, is the first time a foreign university takes part thereof. The participation was made possible through the support of the Pro-Dean of Administrative Management, and work and willingness to participate in our students, who were overcome passage and the four-day stay.
The group was formed by the SCBU sports expert, Prof. Marcelo Palumbo, coach Ramiro Lemos, Prof. Carlos Coronel, and 34 girls belonging to women's football squad UdelaR. Among them only 14 were part of the official list of the championship, while the other 20 traveled to work with the group and to play a series of friendly matches with local.
Only ten repeated the experience after last year among the group of 40 girls who traveled to Buenos Aires for an exchange with the UBA. Of the remainder, 15 crossed the border for the first time, and 8 attended for the first time an instance of this kind.
According Palumbo experience was extremely positive. "We refer to facts that show us the good reception that took our girls and how high left our prestige
- each participating university must pay a registration (To pay for judges and medical coverage), however we were invited by UNL;
- on Saturday night when the local girls planned to go dancing, they invited our girls to accompany them;
- that night the girls were on a roast Tucumán internal celebration, and they came for our girls to accompany them;
- last night, thanks to the excellent performance and cooperation shown by our girls, staff Club Banco Provincia decided to invite us where we were staying with a farewell dinner;
- after every game our team took as custom photo taken in conjunction with Time's rivals, the girls of Cuyo (Mendoza) took the time to print, frame and give us that picture;
- three universities have shown interest to continue and deepen this exchange, promoting a reciprocal visit: UBA, UNL and UN Cuyo were extremely enticed by the idea that we organize something next year, for which probably participate ".
However
, Palumbo said the most important signal was given by Prof. Paul Casale, Chairman of the Technical University Sports Argentina, who traveled 500 kilometers from Buenos Aires to see the progress of the tournament and internalize the inner life of some universities. "After talking with the teachers in charge of the various delegations, came to us and reiterated its desire to participate next year in Argentine university sports games, 3 to 8 October in Cuyo, Mendoza."
The invitation was accepted. "For this work the remainder of this year and next, to bring women's football in this prestigious competition, but also to male soccer, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, chess and all that athlete who wants to work and defend the blue sky and UdelaR. "
